This weekend I attended the New England Webcomics Weekend in Easthampton, MA. Yes, that's right, in Massachusetts. I drove three hours to home in New Jersey on Thursday night, then did the last four hours to my hotel in Northampton on Friday afternoon. The return voyage was seven straight hours of driving from Massachusetts to Maryland.
It was quite an epic journey, and the longest drive I have yet made behind the wheel. My longest trip ever was probably Los Angeles to NJ with my mom after my Uncle Newton died - we made it the whole way in two and half days - including a stop at the Grand Canyon and getting lost in the New Mexico desert during a horizon-eating thunderstorm. And this was all before I had a license so my amazing mother drove the entire way. As for me, my primary activities were sleeping and attempting to photograph all the "welcome to our state" signs we passed, at which I failed horribly due to the sleeping.
At any rate, I made it back from NEWW in one piece, but with an odd ache along the left side of my spine. I suspect the cause is the hotel mattress and not the ridiculous amount of time I've spent in automobiles in the past few days. All the same, I am seriously missing my chiropractor. Alas, I may not be home again until Thanksgiving and his office will probably close for the holiday. This is also my last week of yoga class, so I'll soon be getting even less exercise (yes, it is possible).
